The Hebrew Language
Historically regarded as the language of the Israelites, Hebrew is now spoken by over nine million people.
The language of the Bible survived centuries of history and after its spoken form disappeared for a long time, it was revived over 150 years ago as a modern language among the Jews living in Israel.
Today the USA has the second largest Hebrew speaking population after Israel and the language is spoken across the globe.
Modern Hebrew is written from right to left with an abjad alphabet, a writing system in which each symbol stands for a consonant and lets the reader supply the appropriate vowel. Numbers are written from left to right like Arabic Numerals, used exactly as in English.
Although they have different scripts and they are not mutually intelligible Hebrew is close to Arabic as they are both Semitic languages with some similar words and alphabet letters.
Recently Israel and the United Arab Emirates signed a historic diplomatic deal outlining how the two nations will cooperate in many areas including investment, tourism, and technology advancing peace in the Middle East region.
The statement reads as follow: “A testament to the bold diplomacy and vision of the three leaders and the courage of the United Arab Emirates and Israel to chart a new path that will unlock the great potential in the region”.
